Inuman Lesson 101: Terminology

The last one is a superhero,  by the time you read it, ikaw na yun!

The history of Inuman dates back to the first tanggero that forgot his grape juice because of love problems. (This maybe true, bakit kilala mo ba sya para sabihin na mali kami? peace!) He tasted it and it gave him that buzz of wonder and let his friends try the new discovery. Since then, terminologies have come up to describe the things, people and feelings associated to drinking, pero hinde na natin huhukayin lahat, unless marunong kang mag-salita ng Baruk. Cheers!

Alak-diyes, alak-singko, alak-kahit ano (noun) – to remind you that any time is a good time to drink. e.i. “Alak-tres na pare, rak na tayo!”

Senglot (noun) – tawag sa taong laseng, 70’s term na pinaliktad. Since uso maging James Bond nuon.. e.i. ” Pass na ako bro, senglot na ako eh”

Tomar (nuon) – Spanish word that means “to take”, but was used to mean to drink since its close to the Filipino word “toma”. e.i “Happy Birthday pre, kelan tomar?”

Reload (verb) – aksyon  para dagdagan o mag-order pa ng isa pang round ng alak. e.i. ” Chong, reload mo nga yung ice, lawa na eh”

Bisitanuman (noun) – tawag sa bumibisita lang para uminom, or inuman na nagyayari lang biglaan dahil sa bisita ng tropa. e.i. “Pre, napabisita ka, ano ba to business or bisitanuman?

Tagay (nuon) – means a shot, magkakaiba ang amounts depende sa usapan ng group what’s important is pantay pantay at walang dayaan. “Dude, bigyan mo nga ng tagay is Tito at aalis na.”

Amats (noun) – term for effect of alcohol, the kick, the term is an inverted “tama”, e.i. ” Repa, wag yan ang lakas ng amats natin dyan.”

Kungfu (nuon) – tawag sa malakas kumain ng pulutan, KUNG Fumulutan, master! e.i. ” Kuys, huminga ka naman, KungFu ka naman eh!”

FB (noun) – short cut for “few bottles” millennial word for 2bots. e.i. ” Uwi ka na ba, FB muna tayo?”

2bots (nuon) – Generation X word for 2 bottles, isa din syang patibong kasi hinde sya laging 2 bottles minsan nagiging 2bats or 2 batya or buckets ng beer. e.i. ” Pre, tara, 2bots lang, pramis!”

Al-kuhol (nuon) – tawag sa kainuman na napakabagal uminom e.i. ” Pre, habol ka naman, Al-kuhol ka naman eh.”

Tanpuluts (noun) – term para sa pulutan, 80’s word sya binaliktad lang. e.i. ” Inuman na, anong dala nyong tanpuluts?”

Aquaman (noun) – tawag sa kainuman na mabagal uminom, o nagtitimpi uminom kaya watered down na yung beer or alak. e.i. ” Chong, wag mong i-display yung beer mo, aquaman ka ba?
