If you’re a Hawaiian Pizza fan, skip Naples, Italy from your travel list.
We found this video about a pizzeria in Naples, Italy who pranked their customers to see their reactions to Hawaiian Pizza. You see, for the people of Naples, there are only two kinds of pizza: Margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella) and Marinara (tomato sauce, mozzarella, shrimps, mussels, tuna, calamari and crab meat). These two recipes are protected, upon by the request of Italy, by the European Union’s Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (TSG) safeguard.
Served with Hawaiian Pizza, their reactions are a mixed of insults and outrage with one woman even getting violently physical with the pranksters. All of this is very understandable, because like the Italians, we, Filipinos, are also staunch defenders of our culture and people. It’s as if you have a certified ugly sister, you can call her ugly but nobody should tell her she’s ugly in front of you.
Tell us of a Filipino Food that we need to protect in the comments below or if you’re one of the many people who loves Hawaiian Pizza give us a holla. Cheers!
